Read your article in Salon. You are doing your son (kids?) a huge favor telling the truth. A great gift to them. There are so many lies being told now. They will have the ability to see through at least some of them because they have heard the truth from you. I wish I had had the where-with-all to do that for my kids.
I am now atheist too, having embraced five religions, and getting ever more comfortable coming to terms with my total demise at death. I have experienced the disillusion of this mind-body and it was wondrous, but utterly terrifying coming back. It was empty and so peaceful and so much more but not expressible in words. No tunnel of light or other beings waiting for me. Just an expanding bliss that I hope to be open to when I die.
I have signed up for your posts and am looking forward to hearing more. Will be returning to Ithaca in August. It feels like my hometown. Having grown up on the East coast now I’m stranded in the Midwest but go to Italy to sing and savor life.
Thanks for your truth.
