In fact I agree with you. It is about other minority religious groups that want all Americans celebrate their religion or nation religious or new year events! While in a majority Christian country this is time for celebration of Christmas and they are not forced to celebrate anyone else’s occasion. Specially the ones with lunar calendar that somehow change it every year to have their celebration at this time.
To make it clear I am an Iranian /American that have been Muslim but don’t practice any religion.
I have been in this country and love Christmas, it’s tree, its lights, ornaments, etc. I love to get gifts for my children and grand children and put under the tree. I love Christmas morning when they open their gifts. This is a Christmas even and no one should force anything else and ame it holidays!
As you probably know Iranian New Year is at the beginning of the spring. Noone tells us happy holidays at that time and it is fine.
