Ahmad Maudood Ausaf – 2023-03-01 18:50:38

Hey Kate.

Hope you are doing.

A little about myself: I am a second year law undergrad at the London School of Economics and Political Science, though originally I am from Lahore, Pakistan.

I have been meaning to get in touch with you for a very long time now — law school always got in the way. A while back, I came across your work in the Washington Post and was genuinely impressed by your writing style/ take on matters. And have been following your columns ever since. Although very recently (read: today) followed you on Instagram and Linkedin.

I, myself, am an emerging writer, and have written for almost all major publications in Pakistan. I like to write about topics pertaining to culture, politics, religion, terrorism and colonialism.

I plan on continuing writing as a passion and wanted some guidance in that regard if you would be so kind. It would genuinely mean a lot.

Could you please guide me on how to pitch my columns better to newspapers such as The Washington Post, NYT etc?

And secondly, as someone who’d want to become a permanent writer for an international newspaper, what do you think should my approach be?

Instead, if you would maybe want to get on a call sometime, please let me know. It would be a pleasure.

Hoping to hearing back from you. Thank you so much.

Warm Regards,
Maudood.

PS: loved your buttermilk biscuits recipe 🙂
