Dear Kate–I just now read your article about telling the truth to one’s child. Your attitude is correct, but in this world, the most important truths about our lives have been carefully hidden from us. Conventional religion and conventional secular wisdom both dispense false information to the populace.
I was an agnostic from the age of eleven, but I never saw any proof presented that no great external power existed. Later, after age 43, I began to see convincing evidence that there indeed was a great external power influencing life on this planet.
Poor Mr. Darwin decided there was no “God” when his adored 11-year-old daughter died of some variety of plague.
But he was unaware that this planet was under attack by hostile forces–one of two rival star systems engaged in a long-running war.
The fact is, that elsewhere in the Milky Way (NOT the candy bar 🙂 humans had “defeated death” and possessed high technology millions of years ago.
Armed with your email address, I will send you some poetry, etc., that you might find cheering. If not, please let me know. I don’t want to be a pest.
Best wishes — David Branz (age 85)
