Here’s the thing: People bring their morality to their religious texts; they don’t get their morality from them.
I believe you and I would agree on many things, but I question your statement that implies we have an “innate sense of morality.” The major religions all teach similar moral values and exposure to those values helps form our adult sense of right and wrong. I am sure you are teaching your children the same values that are a cornerstone of religious teachings, not expecting that will not need role models and discussions to inform their development.
