Hello. Thank you for your piece in the WaPo today. I mostly agree with you, but I wanted to throw it out there that I chose to stay home with my kids because I refused to play the patriarchal game where I get paid less than men, AND I get zero accommodation or respect for the fact that I create freaking life. I did, however, keep my name, and I would ask: If it’s such a powerful statement of self to change one’s name, why don’t men do it? We all know the answer to that, of course. I just wish I knew why we won’t be honest about it.
