Hello,
I just read your WaPo article entitled: “If they’re going to keep passing religious laws, we’re going to need exemptions”. Bazinga, spot on, you nailed this one.
While I found your article a trifle wandering, it earns great kudos from me. I have just one thing to add. You neglect to say what sort of people are demanding all these ‘religious exceptions. It shouldn’t take too much figuring out to connect the dots: republicans. We need people willing in today’s world to call these people out for this. There is an actual reason I have come to believe about republicans now, please keep reading after I say this: they are simply evil.
Definition of Evil: American Heritage Dictionary
1. Morally bad or wrong, wicked. 2. Harmful or injurious. 1. The quality of being morally bad or wrong, wickedness. 2. Something that causes harm, misfortune, suffering, or destruction.”
The word ‘evil’ is also a great stigma that may just get people to wake up. Republicans do this because they are simply evil. Everyone in life, unless you live in a cave by yourself, has seen and known truly evil people. Bosses who are only happy when others are in misery, people wishing your failure, people doing bad things to retain power to keep doing bad things. The list of republican evil is unparalleled. There is no Democratic Party yin to this yang. Voting 62 times to scrap health care for millions with no alternative. Investigating a politician 8 times because they didn’t like the first 7 results (Benghazi). Almost 400 voter suppression laws taking effect or being proposed. Having leaders come right out and say ‘our goal is the total suppression of the winning party’. Opposing 100% of gun safety laws, while thousands die every year. Refusal to even get vaccinated and demanding the right to infect and even kill others as part of a ‘freedom’. Denying the January 6 insurrection. 146 members of the congress, 100% republican, signed on to a lawsuit trying to overturn the election. Claiming that voter fraud exists and then making laws to prevent it, when it simply doesn’t exist. I can do this all day. I mean, those are not things normal people say or do, but are done by evil people. Yet they are just being done only by republicans.
Until journalists are able to face this reality, it will not stop. It may not stop even if you do, but at least it will be giving it a fighting chance. Once you say someone is both a liar AND evil in a 16 point type headline, maybe enough people will take notice and do something to stop the evil.
I would really like to see journalists grow a set and call out republicans for what they are: evil. Maybe, just maybe, it will wake up people on the fence and some of this evil can be stopped. People were too weak to call out a liar and those who support his lies, look where it got us. How about calling out something even worse, being deliberately evil and actually wanting to see people lose freedoms and even die.
Journalists were afraid to call out X45 over his lies and evilness, and he was elected. They STILL do not call him out, using cute words instead, which dilutes the image a lot.
I realize you are a writer by trade, so you are way busier than I am. So if you reply, great! If you just acknowledge it, great! If you blow me off but still read it, great! I thank you either way. Great article!
