Chocolate Betrayal

Read here how this simple sauce got its saucy name.IMG_5954

Makes about 3 cups.

2 cups  (i.e., one bag) chocolate chips: milk, semi-sweet, or dark

1 ½ cups heavy cream

Place the chips in a heatproof bowl.

Heat the cream to just under a boil. In my microwave, this took 2 ½ minutes. Watch it—you don’t want it to boil over.

Pour hot cream over chips. Wait 30 seconds. Stir until smooth.

Notes: Keeps for a long time in the fridge—just microwave to re-melt. Makes an excellent base for hot chocolate too. For a sauce that tastes more like fudge than like a melted chocolate bar, see Mom’s Hot Fudge.
